Finding Your Way Around
Welcome to About My Age. There is a lot to see and do here. Some of us are new to computers and websites in general. We hope that these instructions will help you discover the many ways to interact, communicate and discover things to do on the site.
Across the top of each page there are headings in purple. They are your gateway to the site. Here are some simple explanations of each one. The best way to explore is to click on everything in purple, green and red writing.
Home
The Home page is the first page you arrive on when you log into the site.
It has some links in red writing to some of the things that are happening on the site. Click on those links in red to take you where you want to go. If you get lost, you can always click on the 'Home' tab in purple and it will bring you back to the first page.
If you put your cursor over the purple heading 'Home' there is a green drop down menu whereby you can Logout when you are finished. Alternatively, you can Logout by clicking on the red writing on the left hand side of the page.
About Me
If you click on the purple heading 'About Me' it will take you to your profile.
In the green drop down menu you will see sub headings:
- My Account allows you to change or update your account details, including changing your password and changing whether or not you would like to receive daily email notifications of new messages or requests.
- My Profile allows you to add to, edit or change your profile page and photo.
- My Mood allows you to tell everyone how you are feeling at this moment. You can change your mood as often as you like.
- My Journal allows you to write about anything you want. It's your Journal, so you can write about things that interest you, things that are happening in your life, it's almost like a diary, but please remember that it is public. Other members can leave comments on what you have written in your Journal. Try it, it's fun.
- My Photos shows you which profile photo you have showing.
- My Groups shows you which Interest Groups, Get Togethers, Events Groups and Directory Groups you have joined. If you no longer wish to be a member of any Group, just click on the Group in red and under Group Members click on 'leave the group' in red writing.
- My Organisations shows you a list of the Organisations you have joined. Should you wish to leave any Organisation, please click on 'unsubscribe' in red writing.
- My Messages shows you all your new, saved and sent messages and nudges.
- My Invitations shows you members who have invited you to be Friends. You can choose to accept or decline. Should you accept a friendship and then later on choose not to receive messages from that person you can go to their profile and click on 'Remove from friends list' in red writing.
My Friends
If you click on My Friends it will take you to a list of all your friends.
- Find New Friends will take you to a search page. If you don't know a name, simply click on the list under 'In State' and click on your State, followed by Search and you will be shown all the members from your State.
- Invite Friends You can email people who are not members and they will receive an Invitation from you to join the website.
- Updated Recently This is a list of your friends who have recently updated their profile or mood or written in their Journal.
- All My Friends will show you the list of all your friends.
Your Voice
This section contains various ways you can have your say & interact with others. At the top are some links to your own content and you can also go to any activity from this page by clicking on the red writing.
AMA Telegraph
This is where you'll find news about our site and related issues. As with everything else, you can comment on any post.
Chat
Have a natter with old friends or find some new ones in one of our chat rooms. There are special events on throughout the week and you can just watch the fun if you don't feel confident or don't have anything to say.
Discussions
Want to start a new Discussion? Click on 'new discussion' in red writing. Want to make a comment on an existing Discussion? Click on the sub headings in red writing and browse through the Discussions. You're sure to find something of interest to voice you opinion.
Good News
Do you have some Good News to share? Click on 'add one' in the red writing. It will appear on the Home page.
Have a Whinge
Want to whinge about something? Click on 'add one' in the red writing. It will appear on the Home page.
Journals
The journals page has links to all member's journal entries, so you never have to miss anything. Don't forget to update your own now & then.
Memories
This is a place where you can save your treasured memories to a home within AMA, or read and leave comments for other members.
Your Opinion
Here you will find discussions on a topical issue of the moment.
Things To Do
Competitions
Members of AMA can enter competitions once per day, as many times as you like whilst that competition is open.
Feature Articles
These articles are Media Releases from various online sources. They are all relevant to our age group. You can leave a comment on one if you wish.
Get-Togethers
This is where our members organise group gatherings and outings. Perhaps you can find some new friends in your area.
Games
We have lots of the old games to stimulate the brain and have fun.

As we are a community website, we support all community endeavours. Here you will find different Organisations catering to the needs of every sector in our age group. Please click on an Organisation that you wish to join.
